Ventia is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project SHEQ Director to lead the SHEQ function across the AGFMA (Across Government Facilities Management Arrangement) contract in South Australia. This newly created role allows you to shape and define the SHEQ function within the contract.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead a dedicated SHEQ team, mentor and guide them, and provide expert advice to operational teams. Your focus will be on driving safety, health, environment, and quality initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence across over 3500 Government-owned sites.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and mentor the SHEQ team, ensuring the effective development and execution of SHEQ systems and processes.
- Provide expert advice and solutions to operational teams, ensuring SHEQ management systems are effectively implemented across the project.
- Partner with the General Manager and the client on all SHEQ matters, building strong relationships and ensuring seamless communication.
- Serve as the key liaison between the SHEQ team, operational leaders, and clients, ensuring SHEQ objectives are met and exceeded.
- Oversee compliance with legislative, regulatory, and ISO standards, managing safety systems, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Foster a culture of safety and quality, driving continuous improvement through training, audits, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure project readiness for audits, monitor SHEQ performance, and support risk management strategies.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health and Safety, Environmental or Quality Management (or equivalent).
- Formal training in incident investigation. (ICAM)
- Extensive experience as a safety leader within a construction, utilities, or infrastructure project environment.
- Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements, and ISO standards.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to drive culture change and maintain effective working relationships across teams.
- Strong technical skills in SHEQ management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
