ITS Project Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced ITS Project Engineer to contribute to the successful delivery of profitable projects under our Sydney Roads and Asset Performance contract. This role is pivotal in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

You’ll bring strong technical expertise and a commitment to excellence, particularly in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), traffic signals, and street lighting. You'll also play a key role in fostering a high-performance and collaborative team culture, ensuring seamless coordination with stakeholders, and supporting training initiatives throughout service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery of engineering aspects for ITS projects, from design through to completion, ensuring all deliverables meet time, budget, and quality targets
• Prepare, maintain, and execute project delivery plans
• Support tender and business case development, incorporating ITS design requirements, risk management, safety in design, and lessons learned
• Manage project interfaces with related works and internal/external stakeholders
• Identify and allocate deliverables/tasks to the maintenance schedule baseline
• Troubleshoot delivery issues and escalate when required
• Participate in ongoing process improvement initiatives
• Support onsite project delivery (note: ITS works are typically completed at night)
• Ensure compliance with all relevant specifications and Australian standards

About You:

• Degree qualified in Electrical, Mechatronic, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in ITS design, installation, operation, and troubleshooting
• Strong understanding of traffic signals, ITS, and street lighting systems
• Skilled in scheduling, planning, procurement, and subcontractor management (desirable)
• Familiarity with TfNSW specifications and Australian standards (preferred)
• Proven experience in engineering design and project delivery, ideally in road infrastructure
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Experience with SAP is highly regarded
