CMAR Operator/Driver (Morning)

WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?

At Ventia, we're proud to manage council assets including parks, libraries and public pools in East Auckland. We contract to Auckland Council for street cleaning services such as collecting litter, road sweeping, removing graffiti, water blasting, pavement cleaning and more!

We're looking for energetic team members to join our Auckland Council General Services Team as Vehicle or Machine Operator or Driver based in Howick.

You will be responsible for several key activities including:

• To drive and operate assigned vehicle or machinery
• To carry out daily vehicle checks, routine maintenance and reporting of defects.
• General maintenance of the areas mentioned in the job purpose e.g. highway sweeping, clearing of leaves and litter, removal of fly-tipping, fly posting, and graffiti, and emptying of litter bins.
• To collect and transport all waste to authorised waste sites.
• Clearance to areas and sites of litter, refuse, dirt, furniture, leaves, weeds, faeces and animal carcasses.
• To make sure the area you are working in are kept in a clean, tidy, well maintained & safe condition
• To carry out all tasks in accordance with the advice and guidance provided by your colleagues.
• To complete all tasks as asked for by your colleagues.

This is a morning shift from 6 am to 2.30 pm and we operate 48 hours a week/6 days a week so there will be weekend work

ABOUT YOU

You will be energetic, motivated and have a genuine belief in excellent customer service with a "can do" attitude as well as be able to work independently and safely.
 

Other experience and skills:

• Experience operating and maintaining machinery is preferred
• Full Class 1 Driver’s licence is required
• Experience of being outdoors in all weathers
• A willingness to try new things and get dirty                                        
• Be aware of health and safety 
• Capable of getting to work for specified start time
• The ability to work overtime, weekends and public holidays
• Ability to work on own initiative and make decisions within pre-determined guidelines
• Ability to work as part of a team
