People Services Team Leader - Advisory

Date:  8 May 2025
Location:

Auckland, AUK, NZ, 1010

Company:  Ventia

Ventia are seeking a proactive, people-focused Employee Relations Team Lead to join our dynamic People and Culture team based at our head office in the Auckland CBD.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?

This is more than just a leadership role – it’s an opportunity to make a real difference in a large, diverse organisation that values Collaboration, Challenge, Integrity, and Ingenuity. You will work on complex and varied employee relations cases that will challenge and grow your expertise every day.  The workforce you’ll support brings a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, giving you exposure to situations that will enrich your professional development.

You won’t be doing it alone! This role sits within a well-connected Australia and New Zealand People Services team, meaning you’ll have access to knowledge, collaboration, and ongoing support across the region.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will be supporting a predominantly blue-collar workforce in the Asset Management and Infrastructure services sector – so every day brings meaningful, hands-on impact that makes a difference in the community.

As the ER Team Lead, you’ll look after a small, dedicated team (one Senior Advisor and one Advisor), and act as the first line of support for their queries and casework.  You will help support and develop your team members by providing coaching and contributing to peer reviews and act as key support to the People Services Manager-Advisor, including stepping in as 2IC when required.

Other key responsibilities

  • Quality and Compliance – ensure consistent case compliance by auditing casework, closing matters in a timely and accurate matter, and offering clear guidance on polices, enterprise agreements, and industrial legislation.
  • Stakeholder Management – Act as trusted advisor, managing complex matters and supporting leaders with practical, risk-aware solutions.

This is also very much a hands-on role with around 90% of your time also actively spent on managing up to 10-15 cases at any given time.

ABOUT YOU

  • Qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline
  • Solid knowledge of employment and labour law, ideally within a blue-collar setting
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role such in the field of Employment relations or as HR Business Partner in a medium to large organisation
  • Strong leadership skills – able to motivate others
  • Excellent stakeholder management – you are able to communicate with clarity and empathy
  • Calm under pressure, organized, and able to juggle competing priorities.
