Senior Finance & Transformation Manager

Date:  16 Apr 2024
Location:

Auckland, AUK, NZ, 1010

Company:  Ventia

Benefits
You will be joining one of Australia and New Zealand's largest Infrastructure services companies, with operations in New Zealand across Transport, Electricity & Gas, Telecommunications, Water and Facilities Management. There are a number of exciting upcoming market opportunities in the Transport operations and maintenance industry, and our Transport division is targeting significant growth in the next 2 years. You will be part of a greater finance team that has a strong track record of providing career growth for high performers and we have recently launched an academy which is focused on developing and providing pathways to individual career goals for our internal talent. Staff parking and free gym access are available at the office where you will be based.

You
This role will suit a finance manager who developed strong accounting capabilities at the beginning of their career before moving into industry. You will have a strong, energetic team leadership style and a collaborative approach to problem solving and business improvement and transformation. You will have the strength of personality to influence senior stakeholders, coupled with the diplomacy to bring people with you on the change journey. Previous experience in leading business transformation or change management in a construction, infrastructure services or heavy industry  business will have prepared you for success in this role.

The Role
In this role you will lead a team of four direct reports, which includes two finance managers and two administration managers, some of whom work remotely. Your initial focus will be on business transformation, change management, and building a solid platform from which the Transport business can be prepared for growth. You will lead end to end process improvement, and drive rigour and discipline in relation to financial processes. Thereafter the role will evolve into a more traditional finance management role  - business partnering to lift financial acumen, driving performance improvement, identifying risks and opportunities.
You and your team will provide financial support to a national portfolio of maintenance and construction projects in a Transport business that spans from the Far North to Christchurch.
Strong stakeholder management will be one of the elements of your performance that will contribute most to your success in this role. You will foster a culture of business partnering within your team and in your interactions with your key stakeholders. By investing time, you will build rapport and develop relationships that allow you to hold people accountable and give direct and difficult feedback where necessary without diluting trust or damaging the partnership. You must be capable of identifying varying levels of financial literacy and adjust your communication style accordingly.
