With over 35 years’ experience working with Defence and with the recently awarded 6-year Firefighting Services contract, 2024 is an exciting time to join Ventia.  In support of this newly awarded contract, Ventia are seeking a Capability Manager to oversee and manage the operations at Bandiana. This position will also see you oversee Operations at Puckapunyal.
 
About the role

 

The Capability Manager will primarily be responsible for providing leadership over the operational teams. This will support their successful deployment of personnel and equipment to provide Defence with immediate response capability. Ventia’s preferred candidate is somebody with a strong people management background, experience with partnering with unions and the ability to build relationships with the base community. Fire experience is not essential. 
 

Duties include:

  • Managing operational teams in their day-to-day service delivery to ensure deployment of resources as required to contract specification.
  • Successfully fostering an inclusive working environment by leading employee engagement and driving service excellence.
  • Leading Ventia’s ‘safety and health above all else’ promise by driving safety, environment & health outcomes by role modelling our LEAD behaviours (Learning, Engaging, Accountability, Discipline) and leading a culture of compliance.
  • Leading the Strategic Resource plan and its application to ensure team capability meets contract and financial objectives.
  • Building relationships with Defence Service Personnel, SEG (Security & Estate Group) Leadership and Base Community including Industry partners to raise the profile of Venita Fire and Rescue.

About you

 

The below are desirable, but not mandatory. We are seeking a Capability Manager that can bring a diverse background in people management to a high performing contract. Someone with a background in Human Resources that is looking to make the change into an Operational role would succeed at this role. 

 

  • Post Graduate qualified in Business Management or Human Resources (preferred)
  • Background in service delivery across a geographically dispersed operation with a large workforce.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading People programs and resourcing practices including recruitment, training and leadership development, mentoring and change management.
  • Experience in resourcing practices to ensure objectives are met for operational requirements, leave burn and financial targets.
  • Experience in the application of Enterprise Agreements and partnering with unions.
  • Customer Centric through excellent relationship management and engagement, with the ability to relate well to all levels of Defence, Industry Partners and Ventia Management.
  • Commercially astute with experience in financial reporting, SHEQ, compliance and governance.

You must be an Australian citizen and able to maintain a Department of Defence Security Clearance to Apply.
