Ventia is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their Defence and Social Infrastructure Division.

The Commercial Manager will work closely with the project teams, having a curiosity to investigate and ability to make solid recommendations based on commercial, financial, and legal positions, including diving into the details from time to time to support the project commercial teams, and providing pro-active guidance.

This is a full-time permanent role based on the East Coast or Perth with flexible working arrangements available.   
 
Key Duties  

  • Undertake wide and varied commercial advisory work
  • Provide subject matter expert advice in relation to contract entitlement, claims, disputes and contract risk management
  • Work closely with downstream procurement / subcontracts teams to drive efficiency in contracting arrangements
  • Financial acumen with the ability to interpret financial models and build simple models 
  • Develop operational contract management documents during transitions and deliver to project teams
  • Review, provide advice and propose drafting in relation to contract terms and conditions or departures with input from legal team as required
  • Lead reviews for any proposed new contracts or significant changes to contracts or commercial arrangements, including preparation of Variations, Contract Extensions, Leveraged Works or Panel arrangements.
  • Take ownership in ensuring commercial outcomes are delivered, working individually and as a member of the broader commercial team

Skills and Experience    

  • Hold a degree in Legal, Business, Accounting or Commerce 
  • 5+ years' experience in contract and or commercial management roles  
  • Demonstrated understanding of contract & construction law and project commercial administration systems 
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar contracts / projects
  • Proven track record in successfully delivering commercial outcomes
  • Experienced in client engagement and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task on multiple simultaneous projects  
  • Good communication skills and the ability to distil complex contracts to give clear, succinct guidance
