Ventia has been awarded a five-year partnership with Telstra to provide lifecycle management and fixed network services for Telstra’s digital infrastructure.

 

Ventia’s Telecommunication Team is searching for a Field Area Manager to oversee operations in QLD. The role manages the execution of approved asset management plans and operational practices to provide reliable and predictable network performance for the designated portfolio of network assets. This role is well-suited for an experienced Electrician seeking a leadership opportunity or someone with an electrical background. It is essential that you have Telstra Network Experience, strong people management and field-based experience and sound computer skills to be able to deliver on the accountabilities of this role.

About the Role

 

The role focusses on operational delivery of Telstra Field Optimisation SOW activities, ensuring safe, reliable and consistent delivery to plans. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead & manage allocated field delivery team and contractors to deliver the works program(s) – supporting the Field Workforce and the Operations and Services Projects team in managing or supporting infrastructure construction activities - meeting client expectations as well as the company's business and profitability objectives.

  • Provide oversight (and supervision where required) to subcontractor works (performed by Ventia) at allocated sites;

  • Resource planning to enable efficient and effective delivery of infrastructure projects

  • Support during Mass Disruption Events (as required)

  • Comply with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Legislation as well as Ventia and client policies.

  • Maintain a good working and collaborative relationship with the key client regional stakeholders.

  • Ensure that all contractors and staff comply with the Work Instructions (WIs), Method of Procedures (MOPs) or plans provided by the Operations and Services SOW’s Project Managers to eliminate the likelihood of any Service Disruptions.

  • Deliver in accordance with requirements as defined by each SOW,

  • Site Inspection Planning (including scoping)

  • Contingency Planning (resource availability)

  • Operational management (Project execution & reporting)

  • Works Handover (Project completion)

  • Cost Approvals (scope creep, tools, equipment)

  • Implement change management initiatives where required.

  • Oversight of delivery team tasks

  • Pre-Allocation / reallocation of workload using Ventia Work management systems

  • Monthly QoS / CCC / HSE Targets

  • Site supervision (as required) - Quality Control

  • Site oversight (as required) for Project work – CRP Critical works

  • Site Inspection (as required) to assist with Project scoping

  • Area Manager site audits (As required)

  • Review and approval of Timesheets (Field Workforce Direct Reports)

  • Validate and action all cost and extension of time related requests (quotes, variations etc)

  • Action all Telstra observations (as required)


Required Skills and Experience

To be successful in your application,  your experience will ideally include:

  • Willing to travel

  • Electrical and/or trades qualification (or significant field-based experience in telecommunication power)

  • Industrial AC Power experience essential

  • Exposure to DC Power and Solar systems preferable

  • Team building and coaching

  • Project Management qualification (Fundamentals or Cert IV) desirable

  • Experience working within an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) environment

  • Experience working within a Telstra in a ticket-of-work environment preferred

  • Track record of constructive & effective client relationship management with client operational representatives

  • Sound computer skills
