About the Opportunity

Ventia is seeking an experienced and dynamic People & Culture Business Partner to join our high-performing team, supporting both the AGFMA and SAPMICM contracts. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend operational excellence with strategic influence in a supportive, values-driven environment.

Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, you'll manage your own portfolio and partner with contract leaders to deliver best-practice HR solutions across the full employee lifecycle — from performance management and workforce planning to engagement, learning & development, and organisational change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Contract Leadership Teams, guiding leaders across all people matters.
  • Drive performance, engagement, and cultural improvement initiatives aligned to our Corporate People Strategy.
  • Manage employee relations cases, disciplinary processes, and investigations.
  • Facilitate talent development, succession planning and learning initiatives.
  • Identify and address workforce skill gaps.
  • Partner with recruitment teams on attraction and retention strategies, including EVP development.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ and contract governance frameworks.

Education and Experience
Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a generalist or business partnering HR role
  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic HR advice to operational leaders
  • Strong understanding of Australian employment law and HR best practices
  • Experience managing complex employee relations and performance matters
  • Exposure to change management, workforce planning, and organisational development

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a contract-based, defence, infrastructure, or facilities management environment
  • Experience with enterprise agreements and unionised workforces
  • Knowledge of or exposure to HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, Workday, or similar)
  • Exposure to EVP development or employer branding initiatives

  • Proven HR generalist experience in a complex or contract-based environment
  • Sound knowledge of employee relations, performance and change management
  • Strong coaching and leadership development capability
  • Experience partnering closely with operational leaders or project teams
  • Knowledge of relevant employment law and governance frameworks
  • A proactive, values-led approach aligned to Collaboration, Integrity, Challenge, and Ingenuity
