Front of House Utility - DST Café

The Role
Ventia, in partnership with the Australian Defence Force, are currently seeking an experienced Front of House team member for the Defence Science and Technology (DST) Café. You’ll provide exceptional customer service within the Café including customer assistance, point of sale operation, Barista services, basic food preparation, stacking shelves, cleaning and maintaining a safe work environment. 

This casual position is based at the Defence Science and Technology (DST) Café, Edinburgh, South Australia 5111. The cafe operates Monday to Friday from approximately 7:30am to 3:30pm.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare kitchen & cafeteria areas for service prior to opening.
• Provide exceptional customer care including welcoming customers, responding to customer requests in a timely and respectful manner.
• Provide Barista services. 
• Monitor stock levels and re-stock items as required throughout the course of a shift.

Position Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Barista. (Required)
• Proven ability to efficiently manage high volumes of coffee orders while maintaining quality.
• Experience working in a fast-paced café or restaurant environment.
• Proficient in cash handling and operating EFTPOS systems.
• Solid understanding of Food Safety Standards, relevant legislation, and statutory obligations.
• Valid Australian driver’s licence. (Required)

Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
