Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

 The Role 
The Heavy Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for maintaining an array of different defense vehicles. This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday on the Defence contract in Enoggera.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a specialised workshop fitted out with a variety of Defence equipment and a varied vehicle fleet that features Light, Medium & Heavy Road transport vehicles (Armoured vehicles including PMV Bushmasters, M113 Armoured, ASLAV’s, M1A1 Main Battle Tanks and more).
 
Responsibilities 

• Conduct Maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classification 

• Repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions and differentials. 

• Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaces parts 

• Carry out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs 

• Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, ignition and electronic fuel injection. 

• Inspect vehicles and issue road worthiness certificates 

 
Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge 

• Trade certificate III (Heavy Vehicle Mechanic) 

• HR Driver’s license 

• Automotive air-con certificate (desired) 

• Previous experience on military vehicle repair (desired) 

• Demonstrated ability to inspect, repair and maintain light, medium and heavy vehicles 

• You must be an Australian citizen and be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to the level of Negative Vetting Level 1 to apply.
