Pest Technician/Grounds Person

We are currently seeking a Pest Controller/Grounds Person to support our Defence Base Services contract in Hobart, Tasmania.

The Pest Controller/Grounds Persons responsible for managing and executing pest control services as well as assisting environmental land management activities including weed management, fire management, grounds and garden maintenance and environmental monitoring programs across various multiple sites in northern Tasmania.

What you will be doing:

• Perform inspections and identify pest issues.
• Apply appropriate treatments and solutions to control and prevent pest infestations.
• Maintain detailed records of services provided and materials used.
• Perform land management activities including ride on mowing, tractor slashing and chainsaw operation.  
• Perform minor planned maintenance activities and inspections.
• Record and notify any discovered Unexploded Ordnance (UXO)
• Provide support to the Range Control function.
• Manage TA accommodation and associated areas.
• Manage first response bushfire fighting capability to designated Training Areas and Ranges, including the provision of designated fire fighting vehicles, equipment and crews

About you:

• Previous experience in pest control preferred.
• Pest & Vermon control qualifications
• Chemical Application Certificate
• Experience in Environmental Grounds Maintenance.
• Experience in the use of Grounds Maintenance machinery such as: ride on mowers, tractors, brush cutters etc.
• Experience with using a chainsaw.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Sound problem solving, organising and time management skills.

You must be an Australian Citizen and have the ability to maintain a Defence clearance in order to be eligible for these positions, as well as be able to pass an Australian Federal Police Check and Medical Pre-Employment Checks as required by the contract.
