The Ventia Defence contract is currently seeking a Stores Seamsperson / Stores Service Attendant to join their team to support the Clothing Store. You will be responsible for all alterations on uniforms, medal mounting as well as customer service and stores operations duties. This position will see you based at Keswick Barracks.

Hours will be permanent / part time Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8am -3.30pm. Tuesday 2pm-9.30pm, no Thursday.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Perform seamsperson duties of sewing of rank, insignia and badges following Defence specifications, basic sewing tasks of hemming, ironing and basic alterations and medal mounting
  • Measure and fit customers for clothing items
  • Use of Defence IT Systems
  • Ordering and Receipting of Stock
  • Stocktaking 
  • Customer Service
  • Maintain customer order records in relation to seamsperson services
  • Handle cash and reconcile cash transactions
  • Process workplace documentation for all stores transactions
  • Confident with working unassisted when required

To be successful in this role, you will have had experience in the following:

  • Tailoring experience is vital
  • Experience using industrial sewing machines 
  • Measuring and fitting clothing item measurements
  • Customer service experience an advantage
  • Basic computer skills essential
  • Medal mounting experience would be ideal
  • Work in a Team / Customer Service environment
  • Scheduling workloads and meeting production deadlines
  • High attention to detail, accuracy and time management
  • Be an Australian citizen eligible for a defence security clearance
