About The Role
Ventia have been engaged by the DJCS (Department of Justice and Community Safety) to provide integrated Facility Management services incorporating planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance services, ad hoc services, and soft services including essential services and quoted works.
The Department has a diverse and complex property portfolio, with this opportunity spanning over 24+ properties ranging from minimum to maximum security correctional facilities, post sentence facilities, youth justice, SESG training centres and community fire refuge centres.
We are seeking a Facilities Supervisor to coordinate delivery of services at HM Prison Barwon and the Karreenga Correctional Centre within the portfolio of sites in the Lara area.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of Hard and Soft services that meets the individual site-specific scope requirements and is delivered in a manner that is efficient, compliant, and doesn’t introduce risk, or disrupt the site operations. There will be a requirement for the successful candidate to work from other locations on occasion, including Ventia’s Melbourne and Geelong offices, and other prisons in the area.
Other duties include:
- Establishing and maintaining effective client relationships, and a high level of rapport with client officers.
- Providing oversight for site-based FM operations, ensuring services are scheduled and delivered to high standards. This will include the delivery of planned maintenance, reactive maintenance, remedial works, and oversight of both hard and soft service contractors across a multi-site precinct.
- Liaising with the client to ensure access can be provided to sub-contractor employees to carry out maintenance work at agreed times and site locations.
- Managing subcontractors at a site-level, ensuring that subcontractor employees meet security, safety, health, environmental and quality requirements before and during site visits.
- Carrying out regular performance auditing, work quality inspections, and checks.
- Acting as an escalation point for technical matters or complex building systems fault finding exercises
- Organising resources, material and equipment as necessary to efficiently deliver services
- Ensuring administrative activities are completed as required, including review of service, ensuring contractor KPIs are met, and the issuing and completion of work permits.
- Assisting with scoping, execution and delivery of individual site-based CAPEX, Asset Refurbishment-Lifecycle/Project Works and handover documentation across sites as needed.
About You
The ideal applicant will have experience working as a Facilities Supervisor working in large complex and time critical environment with a focus on both planned and reactive maintenance, although applicants fulfilling the requirements listed below are encouraged to apply.
- A passion for working with others, including members of the wider team from other departments within Ventia.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience supervising others.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an understanding of commercial risk.
- A high level of organisation and the ability to manage multiple tasks, some of which may be competing for priority.
- Experience with sub-contractor management.
- A strong understanding of the fundamentals of health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
- Have an unrestricted driver licence
- Be able to undertake a National Police check and medical check as required by the contract
- Having worked in a planned and reactive maintenance environment with time critical KPIs would be an advantage. Experience in leading multi-trade teams would also be beneficial.
