Senior Environment & Sustainability Advisor

About The Role
Our Western Roads Upgrade (WRU) contract are seeking an experienced Senior Environment and Sustainability Advisor based out of our Laverton North depot.
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, the primary purpose of the position is to support the SHEQ team in developing and maintaining environment and sustainability services offerings and delivering operational compliance to WRU clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate and deliver elements of Environmental Sustainability Management Programs including preparation of environmental reports and management of environmental initiatives.
- Identify and implement environmental improvement initiatives, ensuring the delivery against agreed milestones (including project timeline and budget).
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of potential impacts on air, water, soil, and noise levels from proposed engineering projects.
- Create and implement strategies for the safe disposal and recycling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials.
- Inspect depot and subcontractor sites and follow up actions with responsible Managers and Supervisors.
- Review Subcontractor SHEQ Systems (including prequalification’s), EMPs / SWMS and SOPs, Management Plans and Work Packs.
- Train and ensure all personnel can proficiently administer Permits and work instructions to comply with the Critical Risk Protocols and all aspects of the Processes.
- Manage environment budgets and cost control for expenditure such as consultants and equipment.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have experience and an associate’s degree qualification in Environmental/Sustainability Studies, Science, Engineering and/or related discipline accompanied with:
- Environmental experience working on large scale government projects.
- Systems or Lead Auditor qualification required.
- ICAM Investigation training required.
- Experience in sustainability initiative identification and sustainability project management.
- Work in a key contributor role on a minimum of one ISC(A) scored project or services certified contract.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with a high level of communication both written and verbal.
