About The Role
Reporting to the Manager – Compliance and Capacity Planning, the Asset Engineer – Fire will manage risk-based strategies for ESM assets, ensuring compliance with Australian standards, maintaining asset registers and provide technical expertise supporting local and regional teams.

 

This is a Permanent Full time position offering a hybrid working environment, ideally the applicant will be based in Melbourne, but we are open to applicants interstate.

 

The Asset Engineer also will be responsible for:

 

  • Manage, improve and develop proactive, risk-based asset management strategies for ESM assets across the network ensuring compliance with the relevant Australian standards. 
  • Continuously improve asset management systems and processes in support of asset reliability and the life cycle management of equipment.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and detailed asset register of Fire equipment.
  • Monitor quality of the asset failure reporting and asset details entered in Ventia’s asset management systems.
  • Support and develop whole-of-life asset management plans, specifying in detail the expenditure (like planned maintenance) and capital (like life cycle replacement) requirements over time.
  • Develop the baseline planned maintenance program by asset to target month considering service levels and interval tolerances.
  • Monitor compliance against the required service levels ensuring the asset data and network performance reporting is accurate.
  • Support and contribute to the delivery of cost savings, change management implementation, and business improvement initiatives as required.

 

 

About You
You will have a tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent field accompanied with

 

  • Relevant industry experience either directly in telecommunications (Telstra) or related field, Health, Defence etc.
  • Advanced analytical skills, analysing equipment performance and historical maintenance data, investigating complex equipment failures, and developing budget forecast methodologies.
  • Possess a sound knowledge or relevant Australian standards and National construction codes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability working with large data sets, data analytics and Excel.
  • Training, qualifications or endorsements for fire engineering or Building surveying (advantageous)
