Project Accountant

Since 2015, Ventia has partnered with Yarra Valley Water to deliver mechanical and electrical, civil maintenance and capital works services across its entire water and sewer network, including pump stations, tanks, reservoirs and treatment plants. This contract is the largest of its kind in Victoria.

Ventia are calling for a detail-driven Project Accountant to manage high-volume work order costing, invoicing, and reconciliation across SAP and client systems.

The is a Permanent Full time position offering a hybrid working model based out of our offices in Mitcham, Victoria.

Other Key responsibilities include:

• Create and maintain work orders in SAP and the client system as required.
• Reconcile SAP and client system data to ensure accuracy and billing alignment.
• Prepare and issue client invoices in accordance with contract terms and timelines.
• Monitor and drive reduction of Open POs, GI/IR, and eVIM balances.
• Investigate client pay rejects, holds, and financial discrepancies; follow up with clients and Operations to resolve issues.
• Develop and enhance financial reports and tools (Excel/SAP) to support operational decision-making.  
• Support budgeting and forecasting cycles by providing cost trends and variance analysis.

About You
To be successful in your application, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Commerce or Accounting accompanied with experience managing large data volumes ideally in a similar role.

You will also possess:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex reconciliation issues
• Proven ability to deliver accurate results quickly in a dynamic, high pressure environment
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills to influence operational and commercial decisions
• High attention to detail and accuracy across transactional and reporting processes
• Proficiency in SAP and advanced Excel; Maximo and client ERP systems advantageous
