About the Role:
The Defence Fuels Training Team Lead will be instrumental in driving excellence in adult learning delivery and training development, stewarding operational safety standards in a complex and high-risk work environment, and fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and effective problem solving.
Your leadership, guidance, and attention to detail will be essential in delivering high-quality training services to our client while maintaining our reputation for technical excellence, responsiveness, and client satisfaction.
Location:
This role offers flexible work arrangements, allowing you to work remotely or from one of our offices located across Australia, including Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Geelong, Adelaide, and Perth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of trainers and training developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment
- Oversee the development and implementation of the Defence fuels training delivery and training development programs
- Ensure training compliance with Defence standards and regulations
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices in adult learning
- Collaborate with Defence and VES stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes
- Plan and prioritise work to ensure the teams’ success
Key Skills and Experience of the ideal candidate:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in downstream bulk fuel operations or distribution, preferably in a management role
- In-depth knowledge of standards and practices for managing safe and compliant storage, handling and distribution of liquid fuel including but not limited to Permit to Work, Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, Hazardous Area Compliance, Hazardous Chemicals Management, Lock Out/Tag Out, Management of Change, Pre Start Up Safety Review
- Knowledge of fuel quality management practices and experience with fuel quality sampling and analysis
- Experience in managing delivery of a training program
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Experience in training design and development
- Ability to understand and communicate technical policy and standards to support training material review and development
- Strong planning, organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration and positive relationships
