Renewals Manager

Our Transport maintenance and construction team based at Puketona (10 minutes from Paihia) has an opportunity for a talented and ambitious civil construction professional to lead our renewals projects team.

This role would potentially suit a senior project engineer or a project manager with a good understanding of contract management, with a focus on pavement design and construction.

The Team

Ventia currently has a long term Road Maintenance Contract with the Far North District Council managing 1200+ KM of roads from Opononi to Russell.  Along with this the business also completes a wide variety of infrastructure projects in the Bay of Islands and wider area

The Role

Your focus will be in supporting the Contract Manager in the delivery of the Renewals program.  In particular the timely delivery of the renewals including but not limited to investigation, design, design reports, costing, and managing the construction of these projects as per the annual program approved by the FNDC.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• 3rd level qualifications in a relevant field (Civil Engineering preferred)
• Demonstrated experience in pavement construction and/or design for a minimum of 3 years
• Proven ability to build a culture of success and drive project performance to meet deadlines and contractual requirements
• Demonstrated ability to interpret, evaluate and analyse plans, diagrams and sketches
• Excellent operations management and people leadership skills particularly the ability to mentor and coach your direct reports and project team members.
• A strong understanding of health and safety risks and compliance requirements in the civil construction environment
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Strong commercial acumen, a track record of delivering projects on or under budget, and the ability to manage commercial relationships with suppliers, consultants and subcontractors
• Strong planning skills and experience in running and delivering a programme of works.
