The Role 

Ventia are seeking a Chef to join our Defence Base Services contract. Reporting to the Head Chef, this position will see you based at HMAS Striling / Garden Island in Rockingham, WA. In this role you will support the naval staff with kitchen operations and food service to deliver great customer service to Australian Defence personnel within HMAS Striling. 
 

This is a fixed-term position scheduled to end on 30/06/2025 with a possible extension to a full-time permanent role. The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 06:30am-01:30pm (no weekends or public holidays). 
 

The payrate for this position is $30.50 per hour plus a $9.50 per hour allowance.
 

To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen and willing to undergo a police check. 

 

Key duties, but not limited to: 

  • Support the RAN Catering team in management of the overall preparation & delivery of meal services 
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, & barbeques 
  • Ensure menu variations, allergen and religious requirements are followed 
  • Ensure all areas of the kitchen are clean, sanitised, well-maintained and presentable 
  • Maintain noticeboards ensuring material is accurate and relevant 

 

Requirements: 

  • Commercial Cookery qualification 
  • Experience managing large commercial kitchens
