Driller - Olympic Dam

The role:
Ventia are currently recruiting Conventional / RC Hammer Drillers to operate and co-ordinate the day-to-day activities of the rig and ensure rig crews perform their jobs safely and efficiently. The Driller has ongoing long-term responsibility for operations, maintenance and management of the allocated rig. Conventional or RC hammer Driller to drill 400-700metre holes at Olympic Dam. Diamond drilling experience would also be considered.

This is a casual contract on a regular 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off roster. Flights to/from Roxby Downs are included from any Australian capital city. We also include accommodation at site. 

Responsibilities will include but not limited to;

• Operation of the drill rig including set up of site and auxiliary equipment.
• Complete Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and audits.
• Work with due care and consideration to safeguard your own health and safety and that of others.
• Maintain and service downhole drill equipment.
• Conduct stocktakes and place rig orders. 
• Conduct site inspections.
• Chair toolbox meetings.
• Train and mentor Offsiders.
• Service motor vehicles and equipment.
• Load production / drill casing.
• Load and unload trucks.

Suitable candidates will:

• Hold an open HR Driver’s Licence.
• Hold the following certificates/licences: (The below are all highly regarded)
  • First Aid 
  • Forklift 
  • Backhoe
  • Front End Loader
  • Cert III in Drilling Operations (Required)
• Be able to pass a Police check as part of pre-employment checks. 
• Be able to pass an in-clinic medical (including drug and alcohol testing) as part of pre-employment checks.
• Be safety conscious.
• Have previous labouring/offsider experience.
• Be physically fit and enjoy hands-on, physically demanding work.
• Enjoy working in a team-focused working environment.
