The Role
Ventia are currently looking to engage a Food & Beverage Utility worker to support our Defence Base Services Contract. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, this position will see you ensure that the Mess Hall operates smoothly. You will be performing a range of duties such as taking orders, cash handling, serving food and drinks, cleaning tables, helping prepare food and tidy up the kitchen and Mess areas.


Although this position is initially offered on a casual basis, there will be opportunities for the right candidate to transition into a full-time permanent role. The role requires approximately 25-30 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that includes shifts ranging from 07:00 AM starts to 09:00 PM finishes, across weekdays and weekends. You will be based at Campbell Barracks, Swanbourne, WA.


The payrate for this position is $26.32 per hour + casual loading and penalties.


To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen and willing to undergo a police check.


Key duties, but not limited to:

  • Clean, sanitise & maintain equipment, & furniture
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen by washing dishes, utensils, & equipment
  • Assist with the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping vegetables & fruits
  • Stock rotation, loading & unloading supplies, restocking consumables, & assist with stock take
  • Examine all Mess signage & notice boards daily to ensuring current information is displayed
  • Participate in team meetings & toolbox talks, & offer suggestions for improvement to operations
  • Provide support with functions on base with a range of internal & external clients
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Chefs & Supervisors


Requirements:

  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) – Highly desirable
  • Experience in a Food & Beverage or Hospitality role – Highly desirable 
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as in a small team in a complex & everchanging environment
