Ventia Defence Business Unit, operates one of the largest private firefighting businesses in Australia. This includes fire response (aviation, structural and bushfire), search and rescue, medic first response support, fire station watch room services and air traffic control transmission monitoring, alert protocol and pilot communication.

Reporting to the Project Director – Fire Services, Ventia now have a genuine opportunity for a National Operations Manager – Fire Services to effectively manage the successful delivery of the fire service contract.

 

The Role:

Ventia is seeking a National Operations Manager to lead and manage the 24/7 day-day operations. This role involves leading the Fire Operations team, managing performance, and delivering business plans and KPI’s. You will work closely with the Standards and Compliance Manager and Continuous Improvement Manager to ensure best practices. You will have a strong focus on regulatory and contractual requirements and above all else a safety mindset.
 

Other duties will include:

  • Manage all day to day tactical operations and resource management including fleet, critical infrastructure assets & operational workforce nationally
  • Provide inspiring people leadership and governance for management of daily operations and safe delivery of projects /packages, ensuring all contractual obligations are met
  • Develop activity and resource planning processes to ensure setting of realistic time / budget estimates
  • Collaborate and partner with Fire Service Managers and staff to continuously enhance and improve technology / innovation, resource allocation, processes and systems.

About you:
Note the below are desirable, but not mandatory, we are seeking a National Operations Manager – Fire Services that can bring a diverse background:

  • Post Graduate Qualifications (preferred)
  • Must have exsperince in managing fire and or emergency service response and operations in complex highly regulated environments or a large portfolio of critical infrastructure assets
  • Experience in ‘hands on’ operational delivery, project management and management of a large blue-collar workforce
  • Commercially astute with experience in financial reporting, report writing, compliance and governance reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead operational teams through complex and changing environments
  • Customer Centric through excellent relationship management and engagement with senior strategic stakeholders
