About the role
 
Reporting to the CFO of Defence this position is a key partner in ensuring strong financial governance within projects to drive consistent profit and cash performance across their responsible project portfolio.
 
This position will play an essential role in supporting work winning activities, sector and project overhead optimisation and effective internal controls.
 
As part of your responsibilities, you will also undertake high level analysis to ensure timely and insightful reporting that will enable decisions to drive business financial performance.
 
What you’ll be doing:
 

  • Lead project finance staff across responsible project portfolio, developing & embedding systems & processes to drive performance and consistency.
  • Monthly reporting & review participant across all responsible projects.
  • Analysis & insights into project performance, including benchmarking and comparisons across the sector’s projects.
  • R&O analysis – prepare & execute performance improvement plans to drive ‘better than budget’ outcomes.
  • Rolling reviews of projects to identify ‘hidden’ problems early, leveraging extensive understanding of the contract and detail of the work done by project finance teams.
  • Significant involvement in key Work Winning opportunities from bid to mobilisation.
  • Implement action plans to improve working capital performance to achieve target conversion rates.
  • Implement governance and risk processes including reviews, balance sheet reconciliations, and segregation of duties.
  • Production of sector monthly reporting and preparation of cashflows with project teams.
  • Liaise with group finance, FP&A and other functions on matters such as Audit, Tax, Compliance etc.

 
About you
 

  • Tertiary level qualification within a relevant discipline.
  • CA or CPA qualified.
  • Strong financial accounting and reporting knowledge.
  • Exposure to working within a large complex organisation or big 4 environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with finance transformation and delivery of finance projects essential.
  • Prior experience working for an ASX 200 listed organisation would be an advantage.
