The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Senior Tax Advisor to join our dynamic Tax team at Ventia. In this pivotal role, you'll ensure our tax obligations across Australia and New Zealand are met accurately and on time, while supporting our broader Finance function and business units with expert advice on all tax-related matters. You’ll also contribute to strengthening our Tax Governance Framework and help drive continuous improvement across our processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage tax compliance for Australia and New Zealand, focusing on GST, FBT, withholding tax, and fuel tax credits
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation and lodgement of GST and FBT returns
- Provide proactive, commercially relevant advice on GST and FBT matters
- Reconcile tax accounts and prepare month-end clearing journals
- Review business and system processes against ATO best practices and recommend improvements
- Support the Tax Manager with: Statutory tax reporting, forecasting, and budgeting, Preparation of tax position papers, Audit support for half-year and year-end processes, Updates and implementation of the Tax Corporate Governance Framework
- Stay current on legislative changes and assess their impact on Ventia
- Act as a trusted advisor on all tax-related queries across the business
- Drive process innovation, identify automation opportunities, and explore new technologies (including AI)
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Law
- CA or CPA qualification preferred
- Solid experience in taxation (Big 4 highly regarded) or financial accounting
- Strong Australian tax technical knowledge, including corporate structures
- Proficient in: OneSource (FBT and BEPS), CCH Tax Integrator, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), SAP and PwC ITX Edge (preferred or ability to learn quickly)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong accounting and analytical skills, with high attention to detail
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure
- Technologically savvy, with a passion for innovation and improvement
- A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Self-motivated, proactive, and solutions-focused
