Work Planning & Optimisation Manager

About the Role
Ventia is seeking an experienced Work Planning and Optimisation Manager with a strong background in telecommunications network design and construction to join our team in Sydney.
Reporting to the Project Director, you will be responsible for the planning, scheduling, and resource optimisation of multiple network projects, ensuring seamless execution across a variety of scopes, including:
- Wideband Design & Construction
- Optical Fiber Design & Construction
- Asset Relocation and Contestable Work
You will work closely with Project Managers, Finance, Commercial Teams, Subcontractors, Field Delivery Teams, and Governance & Support Teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules for network design and construction activities.
- Forecast and optimise resource and material allocation to enhance project efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to align work planning with business objectives.
- Manage subcontractor work allocation, performance tracking, and compliance.
- Implement process improvements, automation tools, and data-driven decision-making methodologies.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to work planning, efficiency, and resource utilisation.
About You
We are looking for a strategic and detail-oriented leader with:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in work planning, scheduling, or operations management within telecommunications network design and construction.
- Strong expertise in resource planning, workforce management, and process optimisation.
- Proficiency in work planning software, scheduling tools, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or telecom-specific solutions).
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
