ABOUT THE ROLE
Ventia runs the Thames-Coromandel Roading Maintenance contract and we are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Maintenance Grader Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a Grader to maintain gravel and rural roadways ensuraing safe and passable conditions for the public year-round.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Grader to shape, level, maintain roads, shoulders, and drainage ditches
- Perform routine road maintenance, including repairing potholes, smoothing washboardds, and controlling erosion.
- Assist with road maintenance under various weather conditions
- Inspect, clean, and perform basic maintenance on the grader to ensure optimal performance.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and the public when required
- Follow safety protocols and report hazards or equipment issues promptly.
The role can be based in either Thames or Whitianga.
ABOUT YOU - The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
- A minimum Class 4 licence with WTR
- Experience and a high level of competency in operating a Grader or heavy equipment
- Strong understanding of road maintenance techniques and best practices
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks and sit for extended periods
You must be physically fit and able to work unsupervised as well as being part of a team. A positive attitude, and a demonstrated commitment to health and safety are key to your success in this role.
