About the Role
Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of Projects from planning until delivery in the Coromandel Peninsula area. This role provides the opportunity for you to work closely with the operations & subcontractor manager to take on a leadership role in a variety of activities and exposure to all stages of the project lifecycle will make this an interesting and stimulating role. The Project manager role will provide the opportunity to demonstrate your project management capabilities across a variety of project types and sizes within the Thames Coromandel District Council (TCDC) Works. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Managing assigned projects and project teams, from tender process to completion
  • Ensuring that priorities and deadlines for each project are met keeping client and Ventia requirements
  • Being responsible for overseeing staff, site, and plant maintenance ensuring that the work undertaken is completed safely, within budget, timeframe, and qualifying conditions of the contract
     

About You
Initially, your focus will be on the delivery of maintenance and construction projects for roads/ civil infrastructure. You will be focused, flexible, and detail-oriented, with a positive attitude. Strong communication is key to your success in this role along with the following:

  • Substantial experience as a project manager, preferably in civil construction 
  • Strong knowledge of pavement repair methodology, chip sealing, and asphalt construction
  • Proven ability to drive project performance to meet deadlines and contractual requirements 
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, evaluate and analyse plans, diagrams, and sketches
  • Excellent people leadership skills and the ability to mentor and coach project team members
  • A strong understanding of health and safety risks and compliance requirements in the civil construction environment
  • Strong commercial acumen, a track record of delivering projects on or under budget, and the ability to manage commercial relationships with suppliers, consultants, and subcontractors
