About the role

Reporting to the SHEQ Risk and Assurance Lead, Ventia is seeking to engage a SHEQ Superintendent to provide field leadership in promoting a positive and generative approach to the safety and health, environment and quality functions supporting our Rig and Well Servicing contract.  

To perform your duties, this is a field-based role working on; 2 weeks on 2 weeks off roster.  The point of hire is Toowoomba, and you will drive to site from our local hangar. 

You will be responsible for

  • Directing and managing the day-to-day activities of the SHEQ team and assisting with developing, implementing and maintaining the SHEQ safety systems
  • Providing specialist, technical advice and assistance in areas of occupational and operational safety
  • Liaising with Client HSSE and Ventia Operations in matters relating the SHEQ and ongoing actions from audits and incidents
  • Coordinating the identification, development and implementation of safety initiatives, policies and procedures in order to improve safety performance
  • Facilitating incident investigations and regular High Potential Risk Incident reviews to appraise and discuss learnings and compliance
  • Provide hands-on clear and effective leadership in all matters relating to SHEQ
  • Partner with Operations to secure a healthy, safe and compliant workplace for all staff
  • Develop and oversee the SHEQ inspections and assurance program for the project 

Skills and experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in HSE with at least 2 years' experience as a supervisor, or in a leadership role
  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline or relevant industry experience
  • Experience with Human Operational Performance (HOP) principles and their application
  • Qualifications and experience in conducting incident investigations – Taproot /ICAM preferred
  • High level report writing skills
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and safety management systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of safety risks and control processes
