Ventia requires a Site Supervisor to join their Telecommunications Team working on associated Defence projects. You will set up and take ownership of all site activities including early works, delivery and completion systems and processes, and coordinate and direct a team of multi-disciplined trade-based personnel in support of  project-based construction activities. This role is based in Townsville and requires you to be an Australian Citizen with eligibility to obtain Defence Security Clearance.

What you will be doing
You will drive operational excellence and continuous improvements while ensuring a strong safety culture and investigate opportunities for increased works with client. Responsibilities include - 

  • Conduct construction walk-outs, planning, scoping, and activities to ensure that site works can be constructed efficiently in accordance with the construction plans and delivery schedule
  • Manage and conduct daily checks of worksites
  • Lead and oversee a team of subcontractors and direct labour in construction and technical activities on the construction site, including aspects of safety, compliance, quality and reporting
  • Plan and scope activities to ensure site works are constructed efficiently and to budget and relevant systems are updated
  • Liaise with the client regarding construction variations and communicate all outcomes in line with the business protocols
  • Liaise with site engineers to ensure materials and equipment are readily available ahead of construction activities, escalating any critical stock deficiencies to the area supervisor and complying with warehousing processes to safeguard the accurate and timely assignment and management of the stock issues and returns


Required Skills and Experience
Previous experience in construction or telecommunications industry experience is required.

  • Tertiary qualifications in construction, engineering, quantity surveying or similar
  • Current drivers’ licence, construction white card and supervisor ticket
  • Experience managing subcontractors in a construction site environment
  • Strong knowledge and client standards around civil construction
  • Ideally experience in civil, electrical, telecommunication and rigging work including familiar with documentation, permits and licensing required to perform these works
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex engineering design documents
