Civil Plant Operator

• Be able to work away in regional QLD & NSW on a 21:7 working roster

• This role can be FIFO from Darwin, Brisbane and or DIDO from Sydney & Melbourne (LAFA allowances)  
• VOC Excavator & Dozer highly desirable

About the Role  

This role requires a lot of travel and working away from home on a 21-day on / 7-day off roster. You’ll most likely be working in rural areas across QLD & NSW and be required to work 10–12-hour days. You will receive a generous living away from home allowance whilst travelling along with working alongside an inclusive site team.  

The ideal candidate will thoroughly enjoy working away in site teams or be based in regional QLD & NSW and be to commute to project sites.  

 
The position is a hands-on in operating machinery to dig trenches or provide excavation for the installation of Optic Fibre cables for the Telstra network on the Inter City Fibre Network (ICF) project.  

What you'll be doing 

• Operate plant machinery such as Dozer, Excavator, Vacuum Truck, Winches and Mobile Cranes 
• Identify conduit capacity.  
• Identify blockages, using white rods and continuous rodder.  
• Hauling multiple-size cables using hand and mechanical methods.   
• Capture data and provide feedback to the team leader.  
• Quality checks on workmanship during and after installation.   
• Maintain tools, plant & equipment.   

Skills/Qualifications  

Mandatory 

• Current, driver’s licence  
• Current Construction Industry Induction white card 

Desirable 

• Current, HR Heavy Rigid truck license  
• Operator & VOC Excavator  
• Operator & VOC Dozer  
• Pit, Pipe & Cable Hauling course.   
• Current senior first aid certificate   
• Current level 2 traffic management implementation coarse  
• Work safety at heights.   
• Asbestos awareness certificate  
• High Risk License,   Dogging / Rigging  
• Vehicle loading crane.

The ICF fibre network is an iconic project that only comes around once in a lifetime, It involves the renewal/upgrade of the existing inter-city network across the Nation. The new inter-city fibre cable uses technically improved optic fibre cable, and architecture which will provide additional capacity between capital cities and remote communities to enhance performance and improve connectivity to regional Australia which will support the anticipated growth in bandwidth over the next 25+ years. It’s a nation-building investment that benefits both those living in cities and in regional communities.
