Telstra’s intercity fibre (ICF) network build contract is an iconic project that comes around once in a lifetime that involves the renewal and upgrade of the existing inter-city network across the Nation. Ventia are hiring newly created 4 x Field Supervisors to lead the delivery of multiple remote and rural projects, overseeing subcontractors whilst ensuring safety on the ground.

About the Role:
This is a field-based position requiring regular travel and extended periods away from home, working on a 10:4 or 21:7 roster. You’ll be overseeing the installation of optic fibre cables on private properties in rural areas, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. 

 

  • Safety Leadership: Ensure all staff and contractors are inducted and compliant with WHS procedures. Lead toolbox talks, pre-starts, risk assessments, and ensure Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) are followed.
  • Project Oversight: Monitor daily operations, assess production performance, and implement improvements to meet schedule and quality targets.
  • Team & Contractor Management: Supervise multiple contractors daily, ensuring work aligns with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Planning & Scheduling: Coordinate team activities to meet project milestones, prioritising tasks and liaising with internal stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct compliance checks to ensure fibre installations meet technical and regulatory standards.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Use digital tools (laptop/iPad) to update construction trackers and maintain accurate records.
  • OHSE Accountability: Take ownership of on-site safety and audit KPIs, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement.

 

Are you our next Field Supervisor? You'll need:

  • Proven experience in Telstra major works, particularly with optic fibre ploughing, Inter Exchange Network (IEN) builds, and Blackspot fibre projects.
  • Supervisory experience managing field teams and subcontractors in large scale civil infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to effectively engage and negotiate with stakeholders, remote property owners, and subcontractors.
  • Strong computer literacy, including basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other relevant tools for reporting and documentation.
