Project Accountant - Northland

This full-time, permanent position will involve close collaboration with our Transport Infrastructure business across the Northland and Far North regions.

The role offers the opportunity to work flexibly in discussion with your Manager on a hybrid work arrangement, allowing you to work from either the Paihia or Whangarei office on some days, and from home on others.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The successful candidate will play a key role in the financial management of projects or business units, primarily supporting the Project Finance Manager to drive finance excellence.

The role ensures robust processes are in place for accurate reporting, timely performance insights, and data integrity.

Additionally, the Project Accountant identifies areas for improvement and works with the Project Finance Manager and project teams to implement necessary changes.

As a subject matter expert (SME) on transaction accounting, the Project Accountant will share this expertise with the project team.

ABOUT YOU

Ideally you, you will have a minimum 5 years’ experience in the Infrastructure sectors particularly in Roading Construction and Maintenance and as well as either a CA/CPA qualification or working towards completing one.  

Skills, Characteristics, and other experience

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Office 365, SAP or similar ERP.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective time management abilities.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles for construction/maintenance projects.
• Supportive of workload and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborative within the national finance team.
• Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset.
