The Role 
This role is accountable for supervising construction activities, including staff supervision, site and plant maintenance ensuring that the work undertake is completed safely, within budget, the timeframe and qualify conditions of the contract, either meeting or exceeding the clients expectations.
 
You will be working closely with Project Engineers for the weekly construction programme and are responsible for ensuring all resources are effectively allocated and efficiences gained. 
 
Other Responsibilities
•    Select subcontractors based on their tender submissions, skills, H&S record, within delegated authority
•    Provide guidance for complex activities and hands-on to ensure successful task completion when required
•    Monitor the performance of the job, identifying and mitigating any known risks, and escalating when required
•    Ensure fleet and plant maintenance is undertaken as per the schedule
•    Participate within a culture where the customer is at the centre of everything we do
•    Identify areas of continuous improvement and operational excellence (e.g. technology/innovation to improve processes) and provide feedback to the Construction Manager to assist with developing and embedding new processes.
 
About You 
As the ideal candidate, you will preferably have 5 to 10 years experience in road maintenance, civil road construction, sealing methods, drainage construction and maintenance.  You will need to have experience in building and managing teams as well as site budget management and site administration. Your strong knowledge on pavement repair methodology, chip sealing, and asphalt construction are key to your success in this role.
 
Education and qualifications:
•    Class 1 & 2 NZ Drivers Licence
•    Relevant Temporary Traffic Management qualification
•    Diploma in Civil Construction preferred
