The role:
Join Ventia's Defence Maintenance Contract as a trade-qualified Technical Supervisor, working at both the Warradale and Edinburgh sites. In this senior workshop manager type role, you’ll be responsible for managing the day-to-day service delivery, ensuring strong safety performance, and driving compliance with WHS standards across all activities of the teams and administrative support staff. You’ll lead and supervise Ventia personnel to deliver maintenance outcomes across performance, quality, compliance, and safety, while also mentoring team members and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture. You will work as part of a team of Technical Supervisors, supporting the Operations Manager to deliver the Defence Maintenance Contract in South Australia, with regular travel required between the Warradale and Edinburgh sites.

What you will be doing includes:
- Providing supervision, operational oversight assistance and management support to the Site Manager and Senior Regional Planner.
- Liaise with Schedulers and Maintenance Planners to ensure compliance to overall maintenance plans.
- Account for labour, repair parts and maintenance consumables and other Commonwealth items and equipment during daily interactions with warehouse and procurement teams.
- Ensure business processes are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Allocate maintenance tasks to appropriately qualified personnel.
- Mentor technical and support staff and provide development and training support.
- Provide management advice and direction to Ventia personnel relating to procedures and compliance.
- Strong commitment to fostering a positive team culture through leadership, collaboration, and accountability.
About you:
- Demonstrated ability and practical experience leading diverse maintenance teams, management of maintenance activities, technical investigation, quality audits and technical inspections (essential).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills (essential).
- Demonstrated ability and practical experience managing employee performance, across multiple work groups and sites (essential).
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills (essential).
- Trade qualification in a technical field (essential): Heavy Vehicle Mechanic (highly desirable), Engineering Mechanical (Fitter Armourer) or Engineering Technician (General Fitter). Tertiary qualification in planning, scheduling, or a related field (highly desirable).
- Ability to efficiently manage competing priorities and stakeholders at various levels of seniority (including military personnel).
- Strong understanding and skilled user of computers and various business-related software, especially Microsoft Office 365 applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook (essential).
- Strong working knowledge of SAP. (highly desirable)
- Current Australian Divers licence. (HR or HC highly desirable)
Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
