About the Role
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal leadership role in managing a multi-disciplinary engineering team to successfully deliver engineering and design aspects of Defence fuels infrastructure projects. It is essential that you have a strong understanding of fuel handling systems, relevant Australian and Defence Standards/requirements and sound project management principles to ensure technical excellence, compliance and delivery of projects on time and within budget. 

Your responsibilities will include – 
•    Lead engineering teams across mechanical, process, piping and electrical, instrumentation and civil/structural disciplines throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development through detailed design, procurement, construction support and commissioning
•    Apply in-depth technical knowledge of fuel storage, transfer and distribution  systems, including pipelines, tanks, pumping systems, metering and safety systems
•    Oversee the development of engineering deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, specifications and reports
•    Ensure compliance with Australian and Defence standards and client requirements 
•    Provide mentorship to junior engineers and foster a collaborative and high performing team 
•    Support project management with planning, budgeting and risk mitigation
•    Liaise with Defence clients, regulatory bodies and subcontractors
•    Implement and ensure sound quality assurance procedures and standards
•    Identify opportunities for continuous improvements in engineering processes, tools and methodologies

Required Skills and Experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process or related engineering discipline
•    Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is highly desirable
•    Experienced in project engineering, ideally in the fuels or oil and gas sector
•    Experience with Defence projects or standards  is a strong advantage
•    Proven leadership in managing multi-disciplinary teams
•    Strong technical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
•    Experience with relevant engineering software and tools
•    Eligibility for an Australia Defence Security Clearance (need to be Australian Citizen)
