As part of Ventia's ongoing contract with the Department of Justice, we have a fantastic opportunity to register for one of our upcoming Custody Officer Assessment centres where you will participate in a fitness assessment and interview all on the same day! 

The upcoming sessions we have on offer are on the following Saturday's: 31st August, 7th September & 14th September (Starting at 9am).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport and supervise detainees during critical activities
  • Participating in court activities and ensure safety requirements are met
  • Manage conflicts and communicate empathetically, positively impacting the lives of detainees
  • Maintain a professional, fair, and open-minded approach towards detainees
  • Provide safety and security for detainees, staff and the public
  • Conduct walking and mobile patrols of designated areas
  • Supervise detainees, escort them to appointments or court appearances, and maintain accurate records

 

What to expect at our Assessment Sessions:

  • Presentation about the crucial role of a Custody Officer on the CS&CS contract
  • Fitness assessment, including:
    • Beep test (minimum standard: 4.1)
    • Illinois Agility Test
    • Dead ball lift over the shoulder
  • Incident reporting
  • Formal interview

 

Requirements:

  • Availability for full-time training for 6 weeks in Perth (Fully Funded)
  • Commitment to a minimum of 12 months to obtain qualifications
  • Australian/NZ Citizen or permanent resident
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical, including a drug & alcohol test
