Commercial Contracts Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Contract Manager, a leadership role that blends subcontractor management, risk management, Head Contract management and engagement with Sydney Water peers to achieve business goals and foster strong, positive relationships.

This is a permanent role with a hybrid work arrangement (4 days in the office), and you will be part of a collaborative, close-knit team.
Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for reviewing the contractual terms of Sydney Water RFQs issued under the Head Contract, as well as managing the Work Orders released under the Head Contract and the subcontracts issued in response to these Work Orders, to ensure Confluence Water meets its commercial objectives, manages risk effectively, and maintains contractual compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the Work Orders released under the Head Contract to ensure that Confluence Water meets its commercial and risk management objectives and contractual compliance.
- Support Procurement in effectively planning and managing tender packages being issued to market and the assessment of tender responses and execution of subcontracts and work packages.
- Manage the subcontracts issued in response to the Work Orders released under the Head Contract to ensure that the subcontractors are contractually compliant.
- Assist Project Teams with implementation of the project procurement strategy and the awarding of work to its subcontractors and suppliers.
- Manage all subcontract and Head Contract payment claims and payment schedules in accordance with the Security of Payments Act.
- Manage all Head Contract Work Order and subcontract variations and EOTs to a conclusion.
- Understand and execute Confluence Water’s obligations and entitlements under the Head Contract.
- Provide commercial leadership and advice on disputes and other various contractual matters.
- Train Project Team members in their responsibilities and obligations under the Head Contract and subcontracts, including variation control, approvals and delay claims management.
- Improve practices and processes continuously through innovative ideas.
- Develop strong relationships with Sydney Water peers and the Confluence Water Procurement and Project Teams.

- Confidence and flexibility to work under pressure and ability to work as a team member or independently.
- Display a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Tertiary qualification in Construction and or Business or related field.
- A high performing mindset with a focus on quality execution.
- Extensive contract management experience within a commercial organisation.
- A general understanding of construction works.
