Design Engineer

Venture Smart is a 50/50 joint venture (JV) between Ventia and Johnson Controls (JCI) and are the current State Wide Electrical Contractor (SWEC) for Main Roads Western Australia. They provide design, construction, and maintenance services across a range of assets including traffic signals, street lighting, variable message signs (VMS), electronic speed limit signs (ESLS), CCTV cameras and other emerging technology.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Junior Design Engineer with some experience in Electrical and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) or a Graduate Engineer who is looking to gain experience across a diverse range of assets.

The position:

• Is a contract, full-time with flexible working hours.
• Is based at our Jandakot office in WA with free onsite parking.

The person will ideally have:

• Electrical Engineering Certification or equivalent as assessed by the Institute of Engineers Australia. (Mandatory)
• Experience in Electrical and / or ITS design, construction, testing and commissioning activities in areas of electrical, electronics, telecommunications, Information Technology, software and system interfaces.
• Experience and knowledge of Smart Freeways / Managed Motorways and both legacy and emerging transport technologies is desirable.
• Sound computer skills and proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite.
• Ability to motivate and lead staff.
• Ability to work in a diverse project work environment involving multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
• Sound written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience to interface with corporate and government organisations along with being part of a team environment.
