About the role

Ventia’s Transport Operations Division are seeking an enterprising and engaging Project Manager to join their team based at their offices on Adelaide Terrace, Perth. Whist Head Office is in Perth, the role requires a significant site presence adapting to 2:1 roster, with travel to the Pilbara region to ensure project requirements are maintained in accordance with the business unit expectations.

 

The primary purpose of this position will be to plan and control the execution of capital works contracts, to ensure that project outcomes are delivered in accordance with agreed requirements of time, quality and cost, and ensure they align harmoniously with the ‘value for money’ philosophy of the Client.

 

About you

Reporting directly into the Operations Manager WA, you are a self-starter with an inspiring work ethic and have an exceptional business acumen when it comes to contract management. You are naturally a results focused individual who can oversee project work methods and performance and implement corrective actions as needed, to ensure project outcomes and specifications are met in a cost-effective manner.

You have outstanding prioritising and organisational capabilities, a high degree of motivation, energy and initiative, with the capacity to deal with multiple and often conflicting priorities. You have outstanding communications skills and understand the significance of building relationships with internal and external project stakeholders. Your fortitude, strong leadership and ability to drive excellence through the commitment of our people will contribute to your success in this role to deliver successful outcomes.

 

Key duties, but not limited to:

  • Lead and manage a project team of Supervisors, Engineers, Planners and Subcontractors, to ensure the management of the project is delivered in accordance with legislative and the business unit expectations.
  • Demonstrate clear visible leadership in the field, providing support and mentorship to the project team.
  • Have a detailed understanding of and be familiar with the AS2124 Form of Contract.
  • Manage and coordinate the project mobilisation plan to ensure an effective transition to the Construction Phase.
  • Daily cost tracking, budget management and accurate regular commercial forecasting, is a key fundamental of the role.
  • Liaise with commercial and planning support teams to ensure “Change Management” is captured and acted upon in accordance with the Contract.
  • Consistently reinforce our core values pertaining to Safety above all else and a “Right First Time” approach to Quality Management.
  • Provide leadership to manage and maintain our project control systems.
  • Develop, maintain and manage Client relationships and expectations.
  • Plan and deliver road construction projects, in accordance with safety, time, quality and cost, including the monitoring and reporting against each.
  • Actively participate in identifying, bidding and securing internal and external opportunities

 

Skills & experience

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Project Management or equivalent
  • Significant experience in road construction and maintenance project management up to value of $30m – Main Roads WA contracts preferred
  • Have a detailed understanding of and be familiar with the AS2124 Form of Contract.
  • Experience in interpreting engineering drawings, standards and specifications
  • Strong understanding of road construction and maintenance standards and practices
  • Exceptional business acumen, strong financial and commercial management experience
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate and engage with people from various levels of the business
  • Excellent ability to communicate, influence and negotiate work winning outcomes
