In partnership with the Australian Defence Force, we are seeking a qualified Welder to support our Defence Maintenance Contract (DMC). 

 

This is a full-time permanent role based at Puckapunyal Defence Base, located 10km west of Seymour. 

 

Working within a small general engineering team, the Welder is required for quality welding associated with the maintenance of Defence equipment.

 

You will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs and authorised structural and component modifications to vehicles, plant, equipment, and defence components to the extent of trade qualifications, skills and experience using a variety of welding methods including electric arc, MIG and TIG welding or oxyacetylene welding or by machine in accordance with instructions and procedure.

 

In addition to the above, you will be: 

  • Conducting maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classification. 
  • Examine detailed drawings or specifications to find out job, material and equipment requirements.
  • Heat treat metal parts and components.
  • Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools, welding equipment.
  • Assemble parts and structures by lining up and joining them by welding, bolting or riveting.
  • Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing or bathing them in acid solutions, or by applying protective or decorative coatings.

 

About you:

  • Cert III Engineering - Boilermaker or Fabricator
  • Relevant previous experience as a Welder
  • Experienced in a workshop environment highly desirable
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
