We are seeking a SHEQ Coordinator to support our longstanding Defence Maintenance Contract (DMC).

 

Reporting to the SHE Manager, you will be responsible for the supporting the delivery of the SHEQ requirements utilising systems and processes to foster an integrated approach to SHEQ management in delivering on legal, contractual and business requirements.

 

This is a fixed term role covering Maternity leave for 6 months, with the potential to extend.

 

We have the flexibility for this role to be based at either Puckapunyal or Bandiana Defence base, with regular visits between these two sites and some to other Defence sites including Kapooka (NSW).


Duties:

  • Inform and implement Safety Management Plans across the project.
  • Adhere with legislations, regulations and standards and that all activities on the project are undertaken in a safe manner, and with the application of suitable frameworks and documentation.
  • Undertake aspects of Environment and Quality function.
  • Supporting the operations teams during investigations (and where necessary completing investigations) in relation to SHEQ related incidents or issues and provide recommendations through the contract leadership team.
  • Implementing processes to ensure communication and compliance with all SHEQ policies and procedures including fostering a culture of ‘safety and health above all else.
  • Ensuring risk assessments and risk registers are maintained and all records are managed in accordance with Company requirements.
  • Ensuring that the Ventia “Critical Risk Protocols” are embedded in the project through Leaders.
  • Promoting the participation of all people in achieving a safe workplace with zero impact on the environment.
  • Assist in delivering the audit program.
  • Develop and deliver safety related training when required including new starter induction, tool box talks and pre start meetings.
  • Providing SHEQ coaching and mentoring to the Technical Supervisors and Site Managers.

 

About you:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Workplace/ Occupation Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene and Health, Environmental or Quality equivalent.
  • Have suitable experience as a safety professional in industrial safety and possess the required technical skills and knowledge to perform the role – preferably with On-Site experience.
  • Formal training in incident investigation desirable (ICAM desirable or TapRooT).
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and a positive team culture.
  • Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and ISO standards within a utility or infrastructure project environment.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategies to ensure compliance, minimise risk and drive continuous improvement.
