ABOUT THE ROLE

Ventia’s new 7-year Hauraki Road Maintenance Contract is in charge for all maintenance and repairs on 630kms of the local roads for the Hauraki District Council and Waikato Region.
 

In this role, you will be key to helping make our roads safe. You will be working with the crew to support Ventia’s Hauraki District Council (HDC) Road Maintenance works. Workers mainly work with one other team member and perform road maintenance/ construction duties such as road works, path construction, and repair, drainage pipes installation and associated structures, drainage sumps, and other public facilities as appropriate. If the business requires, this role is expected to carry out other maintenance/construction labouring duties from time to time outside the specialised scope of this role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate earth moving plant such as excavators, loaders dozers and rollers to carry out drainage works,    earthworks and pavement constructions as part of a construction crew.
  • Actively engage in earthworks construction, including the construction of road pavement, Installation of new drainage and completion of other  construction related tasks as part of a team.
  • Ensure Installation, maintenance, and removal of traffic management to the agreed traffic management plan for the project.
  • Responsible to operate the plant and complete daily plant checks as per maintenance schedules, ensuring all plant is greased and inspected by Operators on a daily base, stored correctly and escalate concerns to the Foreperson, which can’t be resolved onsite.
  • ​​Complete accurate daily timesheets showing plant utilisation by cost code for each task undertaken.
  • Liaise with Foreperson to monitor productivities to compare with tendered productivities.

 

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in drainage installation and/or, earthworks and road construction.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written English skills.
  • Demonstrate understanding of plans, drawings and specifications.
  • Proven experience in a wide range of construction plant is required with specific practical knowledge of operation and maintenance of the excavators, loaders, dozers).

 

Education and qualifications:

  • Class 2 NZ Drivers Licence with WTR endorsement preferred.
  • Class 4 preferrable.
  • STMS qualifications (L1, or L2/3) are a definite advantage with minimum Traffic Control.
