An exciting opportunity for an experienced SHEQ Advisor to join Ventia in our Telecommunications team in Brisbane. The role offers hybrid working conditions and the requirement for travel throughout Queensland.

About the Role
You will be responsible for: 

  • Proactively enabling safe and healthy workplaces and communities
  • Leading, communicating and providing SHEQ advice and support to the operations team, subcontractors and stakeholders
  • Empowering stakeholders to manage risk and safeguard the safety of employees, the environment and the broader community
  • Managing and applying the Ventia SHEQ governance framework and management system 
  • Using systems and processes to enable an integrated approach to SHEQ management so we continue to deliver on our legal, contractual and business requirements
  • Conducting SHEQ inspections, interactions, audits and implementing corrective and preventative action
  • Reviewing risk management documentation e.g., SWMS, risk assessments and investigations
  • Facilitating incident and injury management procedures, including investigations and stakeholder management
  • Working with and across teams, to apply relevant legislation, regulations and standards
  • Delivering on our environmental commitment towards a Healthy Planet
  • Contributing to and learning from a diverse and supportive SHEQ community


Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience SHEQ Advisor (telecommunications experience desirable)
  • Tertiary qualification in Workplace/Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental management
  • Cert IV Training and Assessment
  • ICAM incident investigation qualifications
  • Lead Auditor (beneficial)
  • Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and ISO standards
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with stakeholders to develop and implement SHEQ strategies to ensure compliance, minimise risk and enable continuous improvement
  • Ability to implement, track and maintain SHEQ objectives and targets
  • Operational experience in high-risk environments advantageous
  • Proficient in using online applications including Microsoft Office, safety management and reporting systems
